Cast away those winter blues and join us on this action packed training week, cycling in the sun. Our trip is planned to coincide with the pro Volta ao Algarve, an internationally renowned event, which brings many of the world’s top riders to the Algarve. Our programme will be designed around the race itinerary, allowing you to see as much of the action as possible, whilst you work on your own fitness and skills.

Itinerary

Volta ao Algarve Cycling Week 4th to 10th May 2021*

Below is an outline of our cycling programme. However, routes can be altered to suit different groups, varying pace, distance and climbs according to ability.

Tuesday 4th: Arrival

We recommend you plan to arrive Tuesday, allowing you to join all of our five guided tours during the week starting Wednesday.

Upon your arrival in the Algarve, we will transfer you to your quality hotel accommodation situated near the old town and beach of Albufeira. This is an ideal spot to recover from your day’s cycling, as the hotel features two outdoor pools, a heated indoor pool, gym, hydro massage and sauna.

Wednesday 5th – Sunday 9th 

The week’s programme includes five professionally guided tours along scenic cycling routes, where you can discover some of the Algarve’s hidden charms, along quiet, smooth tarmac roads.

Each day we will cycle or transfer to a region of the Algarve, where the Pro’s will be racing. You can try out parts of their route and watch the race from a strategic viewing point. We aim to cycle around 75km a day, depending on the terrain, and our programme will be flexible to accommodate varying group abilities.

As well as watching the Volta ao Algarve, you will have the opportunity to tackle some of the Algarve’s iconic climbs, which feature in the Pro event. This, coupled with picturesque routes through historic towns, sleepy villages and unspoilt countryside, provides the perfect chance for you to kickstart your cycling season amongst like-minded people and pick up some tips from some of the best in the field.

Monday 10th: Departure

We will transfer you from your hotel for your journey home.

  • Prices are per person, based upon two people sharing a twin/double bedded room on a B&B basis (breakfast included).
  • Registration for the training weeks is open for individual cyclists.

EXTRAS:

  • Additional nights’ accommodation available on request.
  • Hire of a top quality road bike, full carbon fibre frame, Shimano 105 equipped, per week,  €165
  • Cyclist massages (these need to be booked the day before) €25
  • Safety helmet, €12 euro per week (we suggest you bring your own)
  • A choice of pedals, €18 euro per week (we suggest you bring your own)
  • Extra Isotonic, energy and recovery powders/drinks and energy bars available

Note: € 945 per person based in a single room. Non-cycling partners are most welcome, at a price of €540 pp, including hotel and transfers.
